REV. EVIESS J.S.A. ACORDA
Pastor, Bethany Baptist Church Cubao
Rev. Eviess J.S.A. Acorda, or Pastor Acorda to many of us, is the youngest of five siblings. His father was a lawyer and former soldier while his mother was a public school teacher. He is a product of Libis Elementary School and Quezon City Science High School. He earned his college degree in Political Science and in Law both at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City. He passed the bar examinations and became a lawyer in 1989.
He later earned his masteral degree in Divinity, major in Pastor Theology, at the Asian Theological Seminary, and in Development Management at the Asian Institute of Management.
As a lawyer, he worked in two private law offices, as legal officer at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), as a clerk of court at the Regional Trial Court in Manila, as a solicitor at the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG), and as an attorney at the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO). His journey towards earning a doctoral degree in Education, major in Educational Psychology, at the UP College of Education was interrupted and cut short when he was appointed to the Department of Justice (DOJ) as an assistant city prosecutor in Quezon City.
Pastor Acorda is a bivocational pastor, and he is serving at present both as a pastor of Bethany Cubao and as an assistant city prosecutor, assigned as the trial prosecutor in Regional Trial Court, Branch 96, Quezon City.
He is an avid lover of non-fiction books, particulary books in law, theology, Christian ministry, history, politics and biography. He also counts music as a special interest and he plays the piano, guitar and saxophone.
He is married to Atty. Ma. Zenaida Ongkiko-Acorda, also a lawyer, and has a son, Isaac. The family lives in Brgy. Mayamot, Antipolo City, Rizal.
